William Canole
- Army

He was born November 7, 1927, in Columbia to Charles and Evalena (Pauley) Canole. William (Bill) attended high school in Columbia and lived his adult life on his farm in Sturgeon, Missouri.

William (Bill) married the love of his life, Charlotte Ann Belcher. They shared many happy years together before her passing in 1998. William never stopped speaking of her with love and pride, and their bond remained strong in his heart until the end.

On March 20, 1946, William answered the call to serve his country in the United States Army, where he served honorably as a Medical Aidman, earning the WW II Victory Metal and Army of Occupation Medal. That spirit of care and quiet strength carried through every part of his life.

After returning home, he built a long and respected career as a Union carpenter with Hathman and Company. He took pride in his work and believed in doing things the right way, no shortcuts. His hands built more than homes—he built a life filled with purpose, family, and friendships.

He was a proud life-time member of Carpenters Local #1925 and VFW Post 280. He attended the Riggs Union Methodist Church.

William never had children of his own, but "Uncle Bill” was like a father and grandfather to many. He is survived by nieces and nephews who he loved dearly, and who loved him just as much in return. His wisdom, steady presence, and gentle humor left an imprint on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Charlotte, his brothers: Gene, Robert, and Charles, and friend and dance partner, Edith Sims.

William lived a full and meaningful life. He will be remembered for his kindness, quiet strength, and the way he made everyone feel welcome and cared for. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and love.
