Veteran Service Officer Information

On November 12th, we attended the Farm Festival hosted by the CCUA. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with the community and learn more about resources available to veterans. The information provided at the link below outlines different types of assistance veterans can access. While some of the details may be outdated, the contact information remains valuable and can help point veterans in the right direction.

Please take a moment to review and share this information with any veterans who may benefit—it’s another way we can support one another and ensure no one misses out on the help available.

The Missouri Veterans Commission will be at the Truman VA in the Patient Education Center, Classroom D, on the last Monday of most months between the hours of 0800 and 1200.  I say "most Mondays” because there are certain months (like October) where we have Commission meetings on the last Monday of the month and thus are not able to be there.  At these clinics, veterans and their spouses can sit down with an attorney and draft a will, power of attorney for healthcare and/or finances, advanced directives and beneficiary deeds FREE of charge.  The best way for your members to ensure they are served at one of these clinics is for them to submit an online request for an appointment at mvc.dps.mo.gov/will-clinic- reservation, or by calling (573) 522-4224.

Originally founded in 1899 as the American Veterans of Foreign Service, the Veterans of Foreign Wars continues to be a voice for returning and currently deployed service members and their families. The Veterans of Foreign Wars is dedicated to supporting those who sacrifice so much for this country, veterans, service members in the US Armed Forces, and their families.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Relief Fund is designed to provide critical support to veterans, service members, and their families during times of need. It is funded through contributions, including proceeds from Buddy Poppy distributions, and is used for various purposes such as:

- Offering financial assistance to Post & Auxiliary members in need.

- Supporting veterans and their families through hospital work and other aid programs.

- Contributing to the National Auxiliary Cancer Aid & Research Fund.

- Assisting in disaster relief efforts, providing emergency shelter, food, water, and medical supplies during natural disasters like hurricanes and wildfires.

The fund is a testament to the VFW's commitment to fostering community and patriotism while ensuring that no veteran or their family is left behind in times of crisis. You can find more details on their official website: https://vfwfoundation.org/disaster-relief
